Show notes

From Doubt to Drive - Entrepreneurs Only.

This week with Gamze Cizreli, Founder & Chairwoman of Big Chefs (https://www.bigchefs.com.tr/) a full day dining concept based in Turkey, currently operating over 100 restaurants in 13 countries. Big Chef is a public company listed on the Turkish Stock Market.

In this episode, Gamze talks with us about her journey as a single female entrepreneur in the challenging, gender-inequality-ridden hospitality industry of her home country. Gamze speaks very openly about her challenges and how choosing the wrong partners can be painful Our main learnings from this conversation are:

  1. You need strong passion & sparkling eyes to make your dreams come true.
  2. Think Global, Act Local – “Glocal” Mindset is a success factor for international growth.
  3. Partners need to have the same vision & mindset.
  4. If you fail, take your jackets, and move on.
  5. Expand into countries, which don’t have good own food.
  6. Make your personal “SWOT” analyses for yourself.
  7. Set goals you cannot reach, so you have something to live for.
  8. Never lose your hope.
  9. Embrace uncertainty. It is an opportunity to grow.
  10. Take manageable risks.
  11. Build resilience.

Gamze’s book “Those who play with fire” is currently only available in Turkish, but soon in German and English. Stay Tuned.
